Hi Monika,

You might like to 'yum update kernel' as the ALSA driver in some of the 2.6.22.5 to 2.6.22.8 (or around that range) kernels didn't work correctly with some earlier model soundcards. If RAT then works, I would recommend selecting OSS within RAT as it doesn't sound robotic at the remote sites (the ALSA OSS compatiblity layer then gets used).

You could download the rat-debug-enabled RPM from:

http://www.vislab.uq.edu.au/accessgrid3/fedora/development/RPMS/

then issue (as root) :

rpm -e --nodeps rat
rpm -ivh rat-debug-enabled-4.4.00-0.1.20071009svn.fc7.i386.rpm

Then try running it from the command-line, the debugging output will indicate if it is full duplex or not and might give some hints as to what the issue is.

Hello Mike, Chris, and Tom,

I sent the issue below to ag-tech. I suspect, either my email did not
get to the list (I do receive emails from the list though) or nobody
has any suggestion about the issue.

For now, I had to revert back to the old settings (fc2,AG2.4) as I  
had an eminent session to run. However, I will still be working on
the issue. Any idea about what might cause it?

The card is a Creative SB Live. Could it be that the card is half- 
duplex?
How to I confirm that? It worked nicely with AG1 and OSS driver, then  
AG2 with the default ALSA driver. Could it be the version of RAT with
AG3?

Hello,

Sound card: Creative SB
Old settings: fc2, AG2.4, ALSA driver

New settings: f7, AG 3.0.2
With the default ALSA driver, RAT starts, Listen works fine , but Talk
does not i.e. meter is not active in RAT (but active on Gentner). So I
tried to play with alsamixer with no luck.

Then, I installed OSS (tried both v4 and v3.x). RAT does not start at  
all,
from the AG. I tried to just run it on with the command line, it just
hangs without displaying the window.

This is my first time having issue with RAT.I wonder what I am doing  
wrong.

Any help?
