Dear all on ag-tech,

We have recently started work on an Activity entitled "Collaboration
Support: Infrastructure and Tools in Access Grid"
(http://www.hpc-europa.org/na2.html) as part of the HPC-Europa project
(www.hpc-europa.org).

The objective of the activity is "to contribute to the realisation of
an improved AccessGrid infrastructure [and] to simplify the
integration of further tools, for new usage scenarios".

There are four partners involved in this activity from various parts of
Europe:

HLRS, Stuttgart, Germany (www.hlrs.de) [co-ordinators]
CINECA, Bologna, Italy (www.cineca.it)
CEPBA, Barcelona, Spain (www.cepba.upc.es)
EPCC, Edinburgh, UK (www.epcc.ed.ac.uk)

In the course of the project we hope to do various things including:

 - Integration of Paraver parallel profiler with Access Grid
 - Integration of Scientific Visualisation tools with Access Grid
 - Investigate how AG technology can improve user support
 - Build/Integrate tools to facilitate project meetings over Access Grid

We are still at the stage of defining the exact areas in which we are
going to work, but feel that it is important to make people of aware
of who we are and what we might work on, to make sure that we (and
other AG developers!) do not spend time repeating work that has
already been undertaken.

You should expect to hear from some of us individually over the next
few weeks with a few comments and questions about the things we are
considering working on, and any comments or answers you may have would
be very welcome indeed.

Best wishes,

Michael Braitmaier, Adam Carter, J-C Desplat, Jesus Labarta, Uwe Woessner,
Cinzia Zannoni
