Hi Joseph,

I have tried the CD you recommended and am very impressed!

Later this year I am planning to get approximately 40 schools in Central
Queensland together to experience CyberSTEM (
http://www.uq.edu.au/nanoworld/online.html ) via the Access Grid. We
are guaranteed media coverage as this is an extension of recent work
done in the region and ABC Wide-Bay Radio are familiar with our projects.

Until now I have faced numerous problems which I believe the Knoppix CD
will solve. None of the school's computers effectively needs changing
since they can boot and run from the CD. (MAJOR problem overcome as many
are loathe to load new software.)

However the Certificate provided with the Knoppix CD does not allow me
to connect to the Asia-Pacific Access Grid Venue Server. If I import my
own certificate from floppy disk I can enter happily enough but I am now
thinking of 40 schools and should they use the existing CD I would have
to relay CyberSTEM via a non-local venue server. (i.e. they could only
currently see us if we served via the USA ANL venue server)

Do you know if it is possible for us to obtain/create a bootable CD that
we could distribute to schools in our region to allow them to "boot up"
and "join in" online collaborations we want to feed via the Asia-Pacific
Venue Server (in the Institutional_Lobby/NANO room).

Is it preferred that the schools apply for certificates that they too
could load from floppy for use with the Knoppix CD?

Or am I dumb and it currently does work? (I just noticed you are at usyd)

Sincerely,

Duncan
