If you don't see something like:

GSITCPSocketException: a system call failed (Unknown error)

After a bunch of Python error messages in the log, then I would suspect 
that you've got a rogue pythonw process hanging about.  I would kill off 
all the obvious venue client pieces and then use the Task Manager to look 
for any remaining pythonw processes - and kill them off.
