The shared applications communicate over the same connection as the 
venue client, and it's an outgoing connection, so there is no firewall 
issue in this regard.  There is a potential requirement for other ports 
to be open for incoming connections (e.g., to allow venue participants 
to access your personal data store), but that will come later.
