Hello,
This email is specifically targeted to Big 10 schools with AG nodes (the
rest of you can lurk if you would like ;)). This is a request for your
participation in a distributed rap session involving the Summer Research
Opportunity Program (SROP) students at your institution. The SROP program
is managed by the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC), the
academic consortium of the Big Ten universities plus the University of
Chicago. Some of you may even have an SROP student working with you this
summer. Students and their mentors will be invited to discuss the research
they conducted as part of the SROP. Pizza and soft drinks will be served.
Pheobe Leaner and I are continuing the AG node Distributed Rap Sessions
started by Valerie Taylor and Bryant York through the Coalition to
Diversify Computing (CDC). We are asking grid operators at the Big Ten
sites to participate in this virtual rap session on July 30 at 3 p.m CST.
Please advise of your availability and willingness to participate in this
project. For more information on the CIC please refer to
http://www.cic.uiuc.edu/
The CIC institutions with AG nodes are:
Indiana University
Northwestern University (via Argonne National Labs)
Ohio State University (via Ohio Supercomputing Center)
Purdue University
University of Chicago
University of Illinois at Chicago (via Electronic Visualization Laboratory)
University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign
University of Michigan
Thanks in advance for your response,
