[AG-TECH] Hursley Access Grid Node Query

The new node at RAL can seat up to about 20 people in three rows.
Two rows can have tables, the third can't. Apart from 21 chairs,
I have installed 6 trapezoidal tables and 3 rectangular ones, all with
tilting tops so that they stow away reasonably efficiently (we have to
stow them in the room).

Standard layout is one rectangular table flanked by two trapezoidal
tables, forming an open \_/ facing the 20' videowall. I actually use
one more trapezoidal table for the Visualizer (document camera) to
the left of the \_/; the operator tables are to the right.

We use one camera per table in the default configuration; there is
a 'nest' of cameras in the middle of the videowall (currently below
the bottom edge, but we are going to experiment with above the top
edge). I prefer to set them up 'cross-firing', as that makes the
distance from each camera to each table about the same, and receiving
sites can reconstruct our line of attendees.

We have one Shure MX392C mic per table. We get a good deal on
Shure mics, and they have proved to be excellent.

Sorry I haven't got any online artwork - I used cutouts on a hand-
drawn plan to work things out! The room can seat 16 round a table
made up of 3 trapezoidal tables at each end and two rectangular tables
in the middle, but only when not in use as an AG, as half the
attendees would have their back to the video wall!

HTH

Chris

Subject: [AG-TECH] Hursley Access Grid Node Query

Hi all,

I am working on the Access Grid project team here at Hursley IBM UK. One of
my jobs is designing the room layout. I would like our layout to reflect
the layout of other Access Grid nodes. I am wondering if I can have any
suggestions for room layouts. What have you done? Where have you placed
your cameras? Is there a standard? I will be most grateful for any help.
