Hello all,

Below is a call for volunteers to participate in a series of trainings
over the AG, to support the production and speaker-preparation needs of SC
Global. Please note that you do not need to be at an SC Global
Constellation site to volunteer for the "SC Global Trainer" role -- you
need only to have access to a well-established AG node, and the time
available described below.

The trainings described below will discuss production and communication
protocols which are being developed specifically for SC Global, but we do
hope that the experience we develop in this process will prove useful for
future large-scale AG events as well.

Please drop me a note if you have any questions.

Yours,
Jennifer

Subject: Call for Volunteers: SC Global Trainers

The SC Global Team is pleased to announce that the SC Global Program will
be released shortly. Some participants have little (or no) experience
communicating via the Access Grid. In addition, there are many issues
related to event facilitation and management which are specific to Access
Grid events, and for which we are developing specific strategies for
SC Global.

The SC Global Production Institute, September 17 - 21, will provide
appropriate training for speakers, masters of ceremony, and
members of the production/technical teams. We are seeking representatives
from well-established AG nodes to help with this. A "Training of the
Trainers" workshop will be held August 14 - 15 to finalize strategies
and prepare a number of SC Global Trainers to conduct sessions at the
Production Institute. Sherine Mansour, from the Journalism New-Media
deparment of Sheridan College, will conduct this workshop, and is preparing
the curriculum in close collaboration with a few AG veterans.

If you have access to a well-established AG node, we hope you will consider
volunteering to be an SC Global Trainer. It is extremely useful, but not
required, to have some experience in teaching or training. It is also
important that you are comfortable with public speaking.

What we ask of all SC Global Trainers is this:

- Attend the 2-day "Training of the Trainers" Workshop to be held over
the Access Grid August 14, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM EDT (1400 - 2100 GMT) and
August 15, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM EDT (1400 - 1700 GMT). IMPORTANT NOTE: You will
be responsible for reserving the use of your AG node and any necessary staff
time to support it.

- Conduct 2-3 training sessions during the SC Global Production Institute,
to be held over the Access Grid the week of September 17th. The "Training
of the Trainers" workshop in August will prepare you to give these sessions;
you will need to spend very little, if any, time preparing for your sessions
other than your attendance at the "Training of the Trainers." (If you are a
producer or technical director at a constellation site, you should be
planning to attend the Production Institute anyway.) IMPORTANT NOTE: As with
the "Training of Trainers," you will be responsible for reserving the use
of your AG node and any necessary staff time to support it.

Please note that after the SC Global Production Institute, the SC Global
Trainers will not have any additional responsibilities. In other words, you're
off the hook after September 21, and don't need to do anything to support
SC Global during the week of the conference in Denver (unless, of course,
you already have responsibilies such as being a member of a technical team).

If you would be interested in helping us in this way, please send
e-mail to Jennifer Teig von Hoffman, jtvh at bu.edu. We will be sure to provide
you with official SC Global logo-wear when it becomes available in November!

Regards,
Jennifer Teig von Hoffman, Sherine Mansour, and Julie Wulf
On behalf of the SC Global Team
