INFO:

Dr. Thompkins will discuss NCSA's plans and research efforts. He will
review relevant development progress in technologies for decision
support, text data mining, remote collaborations, and virtual reality.
Tilt will discuss how these elements are now being combined into the
creation of Persistent Information Spaces that combine advanced meeting
support hardware and software systems with advanced information
collection management facilities at the personal and workgroup level.

The Persistent Information Spaces development centers on the information
management needs of decision-support analysts and/or information
analysts, including:
(1) the ability to pose queries in real-time to an inventory of
numerical models,
and to view the resultant visualizations of the results,
(2) advanced information search and reuse using personal and/or
workgroup
           information archives,
(3) advanced information search and reuse using commercial database
and/or
           web-based information sources,
(4) real-time interaction with remote colleagues, work, and
(6) dynamically, recursively modifiable process templates to track roles
and status
of all parts of the work.
