All,

We had a good cruise yesterday. Multicast seems to work everywhere and most
sites had good sound. At KU, we think the choppy sound may have been due to
cpu overload on their audio machine - everything else looked ok. I don't
know why there was choppy sound at Princeton.

Many people installed the new distributed ppt (dppt3) and KU ran a master
while many ran clients. There was an interesting problem running a server at
KU, apparently the machine they were trying to run a server on had no DNS
capability and the server will not run without it. You cannot use IP
addresses for the server. We ended up running a server at Argonne and
everything worked fine.

Many people also had downloaded the new rat that features audio compression
and per stream gain and mute control. That seemed to work well.

On Monday there is a potential for a Presidential visit so we are canceling
any formal cruise for Monday. Watch the mail and the mud for more
information on this as it unfolds. Right now the plans are very shaky. Bob
will post address for people to use if it turns out to be possible/practical
for others to tune in and watch the event.

Next scheduled cruise is on Wednesday, April 19 - more about that later.

Terry
