[AG-DEV] Problems for AG on Linux (coming soon to other platforms)

In the AP Townhall this week, a couple problems were identified as show-stoppers in recent Linux distros as the AG dependencies advance to new versions.

This one has a workaround, but the underlying problem should be fixed.

Services (Vic and Rat) don't start
This bug describes a couple problems: 
- the Jabber client does not connect upon entering a Venue
- the media tools do not start upon entering a Venue

I'm starting this thread for a couple reasons:

- to identify these problems; if you're aware of others, please describe them.
- to engage people in fixing them; if you have some time to devote to fixing these, people on this list can certainly advise.

These problems are related to the versions of some dependencies (Python, m2crypto, Twisted), so will appear on other platforms as they move to newer versions of these dependencies.
