Committing refactored venue client code

I'm going to start collapsing my branch which is a lot of code around the
venue client. CVS will be unstable until I'm done -- and might be pretty
unstable when I am done until I fix new problems that crop up.

Please hold off on committing to cvs until I send a "all clear" sign :)
