I've been able to build & test pyGlobus built against WinGlobus alpha3.
(have tested basic I/O and the gassTransfer code (the t-srv.py file I sent
with the bug report yesterday).

If you want to play, distutils bdist packages here:

http://www-unix.mcs.anl.gov/~olson/AG/Software/NT/pyGlobus-0.9.7.win32-py2.2.exe

(above is the installer pkg)

http://www-unix.mcs.anl.gov/~olson/AG/Software/NT/pyGlobus-0.9.7.win32.zip

(a zipfile containing the release).

you might have to track down a copy of msvcr70.dll to install if you don't
have XP or VS.net installed; will look into packaging stuff later. I'm just
very happy that this finally appears to be working.
