  BTW:  --with-cc=gcc --with-cxx=g++  --with-mpi-dir=/opt/cray/mpt/7.0.5/gni/mpich2-intel/140 
Setting BOTH the compilers and the mpi directory doesn't really make sense. On the cray if you use the module "stuff" the compilers "know" the MPI they work with and automatically locate the correct includes and libraries. So never pass the --with-mpi-dir on crays.

Satish: We should really generate an error in configure if the user passes --with-mpi-dir on the crays.
