Many of you may be familiar with StackOverflow and similar sites that have appeared over the last three years. Now there is a beta site devoted to computational science questions.<div><br></div><div><a href="http://scicomp.stackexchange.com">http://scicomp.stackexchange.com</a></div>
<div><br></div><div>Notable advantages relative to mailing lists are</div><div><br></div><div>* automatic suggestions for related questions in which your problem may have already been addressed displayed <i>while you are typing your question</i></div>
<div>* better indexing by search engines</div><div>* voting on questions and answers tends to reduce the time to find an authoritative answer</div><div>* ability to edit questions and answers to stay relevant to later releases and to improve quality/comprehensiveness</div>
<div>* automatic indexing of related and "linked" questions</div><div><br></div><div>There are already some PETSc questions there and several of the developers are active on the site. I encourage you to consider asking questions of general interest there. If you ask a question involving PETSc, please use the "petsc" tag.</div>
