Well, all SLEPc 3.6.x (also 3.6.1) are incompatible with 3.7, but only 3.6.3 checks this explicitly.

SLEPc 3.7 will be released in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned via the mailing list. Meanwhile you can use the master branch as suggested by Hong.
