Barry, INSERT_VALUES is currently hard-coded.  When we talked at the lab, you seemed rather down on using DMComposite, but I don't see a good alternative for e.g. equations in a volume coupled to equations on the surface.  In any case, should DMCompositeGather() take an InsertMode argument?  Or is there a different way you had in mind?<div>
