This release focuses on performance enhancement, particularly for applications
<div>that use the Lustre file system. There is no changes in APIs. As the internal</div>
<div>implementation changes are quite significant, we provide this alpha release in</div>
<div>hopes of soliciting feedbacks from our users.</div>

To get a rough idea of the performance improvement over the 1.14.1 version,<br>
below shows some experimental results collected from running the I/O kernels of</div>
<div>E3SM and WRF on <a href="https://urldefense.us/v3/__https://www.nersc.gov/what-we-do/computing-for-science/perlmutter__;!!G_uCfscf7eWS!c86Geqn4SqcC96enESWt6Lzxl-muozt2Gcl4I0npZloI2CrDoj-vnusXa3mOdFFtkccogO2nz_ok6oqVlj1U5UQwrYgd1oc$">Perlmutter</a> at NERSC. All I/O times are in seconds and I/O amounts</div>
<div>in GiB. The number of MPI processes allocated per compute node is 128.</div>
