    <p>Yep, there's some melting going on.  There's a porous structure
      that does not melt and wax trapped in the porous structure.  The
      wax melts and re-solidifies.  There really nothing complex
      happening with the geometry.  A static mesh should do the job. 
      The material properties are the challenge.  I think I could model
      the material behavior as having a non-linear specific heat
      capacity as a function of temperature.</p>

          <p>In principle, it should be possible as that was one of the
            original applications for Nek5000.  In practice, however, I
            would rate that as still a research area (at least from the
            Nek perspective).  I guess that melting is much easier than
            freezing, however.</p>
