Dear Michael,
we have written an implementation of particles with (nonlinear) Stokes  
drag, essentially based on spectral interpolation. The tricky bit is  
to make sure that the boundary conditions are done correctly. There is  
one paper already published (see http://arxiv.org/abs/1501.04483), and  
one more is in the thesis by Azad Noorani. What type of particles are  
you interested in, inertial ones, or just fluid tracers?
