[Nek5000-users] Periodic and non-periodic BC, mesh consistency check

I am trying to simulate a channel flow, with a passive scalar that is introduced in the channel as a point source near the entrance of the channel. clearly, the scalar is not periodic. 

I dont seem to be able to set periodic boundary conditions for the velocity in the streamwise direction, as well as non-periodic boundary conditions for the scalar (i tried pretty much any combination of non-periodic boundary conditions). i get the error :
Mesh consistency check failed.  EXITING in VRDSMSH. 

is Nek5000 not supporting periodic and non-periodic conditions for velocity and scalar respectively ?
