Well, basically I am storing all the data and then post processing with 
load_fld and your hpts subroutine. Maybe I should output less of the 
binary and output probe data as the code is running. Anyway, I can 
always put the last file and restart but thought that it'd be more 
convenient to just increase the maximum limit since the code keeps 
running even after f9999.
