im using mpich2 with mpd as process manager.<br>

i tried to set a port range so as to limit the ports that mpd uses.<br>

i set the MPICH_PORT_RANGE=8000:9000 as an environment variable but this

 applies only on the machine im booting the mpd ring from, as like this:<br>

node1<br>

node2<br>

<br>

if i boot the ring form node1 <br>

node1 takes port 8000<br>

node2 takes ANY_RANDOM_PORT not specified in the range<br>

and of course vice versa<br>
