[mpich-discuss] Fatal error in MPI_Init

Hi,
If you would like to run your job across Windows and Linux machines you must configure MPICH2 on Unix with the SMPD process manager (as mentioned in my previous email). You will need to download the MPICH2 source and configure it to use SMPD as the process manager. Please follow the steps below to install MPICH2 from source with the SMPD process manager,

# Download MPICH2 source from http://www.mcs.anl.gov/research/projects/mpich2/downloads/index.php?s=downloads
# Unzip/Untar the source and follow the instructions in the Install guide (http://www.mcs.anl.gov/research/projects/mpich2/documentation/files/mpich2-1.3.2-installguide.pdf) to install MPICH2. You will have to do the following to install MPICH2 (into say /home/gustavo/mpich2-1.3.2 -- assuming you are installing from a tcsh shell),
  ./configure --prefix=/home/gustavo/mpich2-1.3.2 --with-pm=smpd |& tee configure.log
  make |& tee make.log
  make install |& install.log

(If you are uncomfortable installing MPICH2 from source please read the README/Install guide and/or contact a sysadmin to help you with it. The steps are very similar to installing other packages from source on Unix systems.)

Regards,
Jayesh

Hi Jayesh:

apologize for my english and my ignorance with Linux.
But I have not idea of what are you telling me: how must I execute the command "./configure --with-pm=smpd"?
I wrote that command in the console, and the result was: "No existe el fichero o el directorio" (the file or directory doesn't exist).

Must I enter into a directory?

Thanks,
Gustavo Uribe

Also, the version that I provide you will be an experimental support for Network Direct (performance tuning is in the works... and I haven't had a chance to run it on a large system to weed out all the bugs.).
