Sharon,

 

That particular error message is because of a missing home directory. If the node(s) you run on DO have the home directory, there will be no error.

 

If that node does not have /home/pfeiffes/ but DOES have an existing home directory (as I would expect), it would still run.

 

What you may need to verify is that the $HOME directory for the accounts are the same for each node and exist.

(3)     You are right, I logged on to the two nodes that it was having problems with and did not find my home directory.

(4)    I'm trying to understand MPI and have one more question, if I statically assign the job to run on that node "ccs511", I do not get the error message.

Could you tell me why this is the case?

I suspect your home directory does not exist on one of the nodes.

 

Log onto the nodes and verify that.
