In two other games I was in a position that a good run would have enabled me to win, but I didn’t pull it off. In the final game Karle insisted (after the game) that I had a safety in a cluster of balls along one side. I disagreed. Kevin gave me more than a few chances, including ball in hand at least three times.

That was in match 1 against Cue Therapy, Paul L vs Kevin in a 1:9.
Should note that Kevin is the top handicap in the league...

The second match was Cari vs Kelly (Mr Cari) in a 2:4. Cari was
getting to the 8 often throughout the match, sinking it in the 4th
game to take the match to hill-hill. Kelly got out to a big lead in
the final game, but Cari caught up. Unfortunately, when shooting on
her last ball, she missed it giving Kelly ball-in-hand on the 8, which
he sank to take the match, 1:4.

Paul H played next against Karle in a 2:2. Paul was shooting well,
putting together runs and making tough shots. He won the first game,
and while Karle threatened to take the 2nd, Paul kept the pressure on
and took the game and match, 2:0. A long overdue win for Paul!

Tami played the fourth match against Bob in a 1:4. Bob was making
shots, winning the first 2 games, but Tami was making shots too and
got to the 8 first in the 3rd game, which she sank on nice bank,
winning the game and match, 1:2.

John closed out the night against Glenn in a 2:3. Glenn was shooting
well, and I was not, missing lots of shots and giving up ball-in-hand,
quickly losing the first 2 games. In the third, Glenn sank all his
balls while all mine were still in the table; fortunately, I was able
to keep them between the cue and the 8, which resulted in me getting
ball-in-hand a couple of times. Alas, I just couldn't make my shots,
and when I missed with two balls still on the table, I left Glenn with
a clear shot on the 8, which he sank for the game and match, 0:3.

So we got 2 wins for the night.

John
