Duh, my bad. How can she win one game when that would win the match. And I even took a picture of the sheet prior to leaving. Doh!

Correction - both my games against Melanie were competitive and well played. I won on the 8 on both games. If we would have traded games, Melanie would have taken the match at 2v1. I did win the match.

Subject: [POOL] First night summary

Last night was a good night. Martino kicked off the season in a 2v2 with big Mike. Mike lost game one in a shot on the 8 that remarkably sunk the cue ball with Martino’s ball, which should have blocked the pocket. Martino then handily took the second game and the first win of the night and season.
Tami went next against Melanie on table 5. I didn’t get to watch this exciting match up of last season’s first versus second place individuals. It was a 2v1 matchup. Tami traded games with Melanie, winning the first and third, to take the match.
I went third. Brian arrived a little harried and without a cue, borrowing Melanie’s. Although he joked about not playing all summer he was still the solid shot he always is. Our matchup was a 5v2. I won the lag but lost the first two games. Winning the third my confidence boosted. Unfortunately, Brian had a strong fifth (fourth win) game. In sixth game, the hill-hill, I ran my first 5 balls after Brian’s break in which he didn’t sink any. With a significant deficit Brian went into defense mode. Eventually he beat me to the 8 but couldn’t make the shot he left for himself. In a do or die shot on my last ball I made a long bank to sink the 5 which I then followed with a soft shot on the 8 into the side pocket. Game set match. Thanks to Martino for some good coaching.
Derek was next against Brandon in a 2v2. Brandon was streaky but Derek took the lead with the first win. Brandon took the next game. In the third game, with the confidence of someone that has been in the league for a year now, Derek played a solid game. He took the game and match. Another fun to watch match with good back and forth play. And our fourth win in four games.
In the fifth game, not feeling any pressure after four team wins, Paul was off to a good start. However, she caught up and took the match hill-hill. In the last game Paul was facing a big deficit with all of his balls on the table while she was staring at the 8. Solid defense and a final three ball run gave Paul the game and match. Five games and five wins!
Go Team Moe!
