[POOL] Last week's results

Last week we played Get More with Les.  We only had 3 players,
Martino, Paul and me, so we were all in must-win matches if we didn't
want to be playing for last place in the final week.  That was a tall
order given how tough Les's team is, but, well..., we delivered!

I went first against Steve in a 2:4.  I was shooting well and won the
first game but gave up the next 3 to Steve in close games.  In the
hill game, I got the early lead and clinched it after making a long,
cross table bank through traffic on one of my last balls which I still
don't know how I made.  I took down Steve, 2:3.

Martino played the 2nd match against Pete in a 1:4.  Martino was
shooting well too and put together a couple of short runs in the first
game but was thwarted by side pockets, losing the first game.  Martino
continued to shoot well in the second game, this time taking control
of the side pockets, sinking at least 4 of his balls in the sides.  He
then sank the 8 to win the game and match, 1:1.

Paul played the 3rd match against Fred in a 2:6.  Fred was shooting
well and won the first game, not giving Paul much opportunity to
shoot.  He got a little lax in the second game though, and Paul
capitalized to win that one.  Fred refocused and took the next 3
games.  Undaunted, Paul kept the pressure on, putting together a long
run in the sixth game and leaving Fred with pretty much nothing to
shoot at when he missed.  Fred nonetheless tried to make a shot but
ended up giving Paul ball-in-hand, not once but twice on almost
identical shots.  Paul put those to good use, and ran the rest of his
balls and the 8 for the game and match win, 2:4.

Thus we defeated More with Les by giving them less (winds) with Moe!
