Results for the inaugural night for the fall session. We played
Retarded Monkeys, Dennis's team.

First up was Rob against Mike in 1:5 or so. I arrived as Rob and Mike
where playing the first game of their match. I took a seat and turned
around to watch the match, only to see Rob shaking Mike's hand; Rob
had just sunk the 8, winning quickly, 1:0.

Paul R played next against Dennis in a 2:7. Paul was shooting fairly
well, making some good shots, but not enough to win a game until
Dennis scratched on the 8, giving Paul a win in the 6th game.
Unfortunately for Paul, Dennis got his focus in the final game, not
giving Paul much of anything except for another loss. Paul went down,
1:7.

Next was me against Tim in a 4:1. Tim left me in a couple of tough
spots in the first game, but eventually I got to the 8, which I sank
with a nice, cross-table bank. Unfortunately, the cueball trickled
into the nearby corner pocket, so I lost the game and match, 0:1.

New team member Adam (Scovel) played next against another new player,
Mitch (I believe that was his name), in a 3:2. Adam tested at a 50
handicap and was shooting like a 50, taking the early lead 2:0. The
3rd game was very close, but Mitch won out, taking the match to the
hill game. That was another very close game, with each player having
only one ball on the table. Adam sank his, but missed on the 8. Mitch
went to sink his remaining ball, but instead sank the cue, giving Adam
ball in hand on the 8 and the match, his first win for team Moe, woo!

Last match of the night was Az against Jesse in a 3:5. Jesse was
shooting very well, but Az had the early upper hand, going up 2:2.
Unfortunately, Jesse warmed up by that point, and with the help of
some lucky caroms, he won the next two, given Az a loss, 2:5.

So we only won 2 of 5, but games were close thoughout the night. Not
a bad start to the season. The new venue seems good, with a better
layout, and equivalent food/booze selection and service.

Any mistakes in the above are all due to uncorrected memory errors in my
brain.

John
