We played Cue Strokers, Andy's team.

Craig was first against Jori in a 2:2. I missed this match, but if I
remember the recap correctly, Craig had the lead in the first game,
but somehow lost it to Jori (Craig probably felt bad about beating a
pregnant woman :) ). Jori then proceeded to break and run the 2nd
game, only to find the 8-ball trapped by all of Craig's balls, and
gave up ball in hand to Craig. Craig then proceeded to sink his
balls while keeping the 8 trapped, resulting in more ball in hand
whenever Jori tried to get to the 8, until finally Craig finally got
to it and sunk it, winning the 2nd game. Don't recall how the 3rd
game went, only that Craig was victorious, winning the match 2:1.

Next was Paul against Melanie in a 3:2. Melanie was shooting
uncharacteristically well, and took the first game. Paul came back to
take the next two games, but not being used to being on the high end
of the #-games-to-win handicap, he wasn't able to close out the rubber
game despite some good shots and fell, 2:2. It didn't help that
Melanie made some good defensive shots in the last game, knocking
Paul's balls around like an expert curler... :)

I was next against Gene in a 2:2. Gene is still converging (read:
falling) towards his real handicap, so I was able to beat him handily,
2:0.

Next was Brian T against Amanda in a 3:2. Despite an early loss in
the first game, Brian held his ground with some solid shooting and
came back to take the next 3 games and the match, winning 3:1.

Last was Brian R against Andy in a 2:5. Brian struggled early on
while Andy played well, losing the first 4 games. But then the dance
music kicked in, and Brian made a strong comeback taking the next
game. He then played tough in the rubber game and had a good 3-ball
run all lined up to close out the match, but his shot on one of his
balls went just a bit wide and ended up pocketing the 8, giving the
game and match to Andy, 1:5.

So on we won 3 and lost 2.

In the makeup game against Les's team, Paul played Fred in a 2:6,
after his match with Melanie. Paul shrugged off it earlier defeat and
played Fred well, and with the help of lots of ball in hand, he took
Fred down, winning the match 2:3.

The team we played last week didn't have a player available for a make
up match, so that still remains to be played.

John
