In honor of Jason's return from his stint at Harpo, everybody gets 6
points! :) Not because of Oprah's generosity, but rather because the
Moe Szyslak Experience swept the Retarded Monkeys, 5 to 0.
Representing Moe for the evening and receiving 6 points for each of
their handicaps were Jason, Brian R, Craig, John and Roger. New team
member Paul Hovland was also on-hand to get the lay of the slate.

First up for the evening was Jason vs Mike in a 5:5 battle. I didn't
see the match, but I was told it was a close, back-and-forth match-up
which went to a final game with both players shooting at the 8, which
Jason sank to win his and Moe's first match of the season 5:4.

Next was Brian vs Ray in a 1:5. Brian started the season solidly, and
despite losing his 1st game, he found himself shooting at the 8 in the
2nd game, which he pocketed, taking the match 1:1.

Craig played Dennis next in a 1:7. Craig started well enough, but
Dennis kept getting stronger and stronger as the match went on. So
strong in fact that in the 6th game, he made an amazing cut to sink
one of his balls but which sent the cue spinning into the 8, which
in turn fell into a side pocket, giving the game and the match to
Craig, 1:5.

John then faced Rich in a 2:3. Both players were a bit rusty, with
both missing shots on the 8 in the first game until John finally sank
it. John quickly fell behind in the 2nd game though, leaving Rich
with a tough but makable shot on the 8. Unfortunately for Rich, the 8
caught the tip of the called pocket and banked off hard, straight into
another pocket, giving the game and match to John, 2:0.

The final match featured Roger vs Pete, in another 2:3. Roger started
out strong, winning the lag and running in 4 balls after the break in
the first game, which he ended up winning after pocketing the 8. Pete
settled down a bit in the 2nd game and took an early lead, but in the
end, Roger was too much for him and took the 2nd game and the match,
winning 2:0.

So it was a great start to the season for Moe; yea Moe! :)

John
