I've noticed similar things too on OSX only and don't know the cause yet.
If you're interesting in debugging it more, moving your certRepo directory 
(from ~/.AccessGrid/certRepo) will help you start from a clean slate.

This probably means your server doesn't have the Anonymous CA cert 
installed.  I don't believe it was included in the 2.2 release, but it is 
in the 2.3 betas and final.  It is possible to load the Anonymous CA cert 
files (available in our cvs repository) into your 2.2 server with the 
certmgr.py command-line application.  If you decide to do this and need 
help with process just ask.
