[AG-TECH] linux not recieving own vic stream

I'm having what I'm guessing is a multicast related issue under linux. I'm
using AGTk 2.1.2-9 that's been hanging out in the TVS venue (and is working
quite well otherwise!) on RedHat 9 with the latest stock kernel.
Essentially, my problem is that my VideoConsumer vic isn't seeing the stream
from my VideoProducer vic. I've found a few bits by googling on setting up
multicast streams to loop back, but only from a programmers point of view, ie,
something that vic itself would be doing when creating the stream.
Does anyone know of a way I could fix this without having to delve into the
vic source?
