I thought I'd help out by providing the documentation for using most common USB cameras under Windows XP:
1. Plug the camera into a USB port.

Just FYI, we are 'standardizing' on the Logitech QuickCam 3000 Pro. Captures beautiful 640x480 images, drivers are in the OS so you just plug & play, and can be easily found at almost any computer store from $80 to $99.
