so far, everybody has had problems with the pptJM (PowerPoint JavaMaster) client at one time or another.  fresh windows doesn't necessarily come packaged with the most recent java virtual machine... so the client will crash in a mysterious way.

you'll need to make sure that you've got the most recent java virtual machine for windows.  here, try this:
