think the spatial metaphor has value, but we shouldn't limit movement in the
venue space just for the sake of adherence to the spatial metaphore, so I like
the concept of "magical transport" (if only we could break the physical world
that way!).

As far as being able to see rooms beyond the one in
which you are present, I think we should construct some kind of map that we
can use internally to at least try to iterate toward something usable. I
know there has been some effort at a map before, but as far as I can tell it
hasn't been "used", and this practical experience might be what we need to
develop the map idea. In AG2, a user with a venue url can jump there
directly, so using a map requires no extra effort.

Tom, who needs to

As far as the spatial metaphor, having a map does not break a spatial
metaphor, it complements it. I am not a fan of the current rabbit warren
model, I prefer the shopping mall or community model where I can see a
"you-are-here" map, find out what stores or activities are around, and at
least plot a course to my destination. Sometimes, since it's possible in our
world, I would like to press a button and magically be transported there,
and sometimes I would like to take a leisurely walk. Either way, I want to
know where I am going, how to get there, and where I have been.

Would you file this as a feature enhancement on the bugzilla, because this
is about user client preferences. It not likely every user wants the same
view of the space, so getting requests on alternative ways to see it are
important for us being able to have *any* idea what users want.
This is great feedback, however there might be parts of this that are just
not possible at this time. Specifically, the part about seeing some number
of exits away breaks the entire spatial notion -- you can't see what's
connected to the room connected to this one, since you aren't
that room. We
can choose to change this, but that will probably not be before
ag2 final on
april 15th.

Subject: A few comments on exits
I don't find the exits list to be very efficient and it
doesn't provide me with enough information.
The door thingy is cute, but takes up too much room. The
vertical arrangement of door and name wastes space. There is
no context provided, so I find it easy to be lost. I would
like to see something that showed where I came from, and the
ability to expand, like explorer, the next level exits in
each exit so I could do a little look-ahead.
