Okay, it's not exactly satisfactory and will need to be fixed.

With the new version of vic in SVN, the X11 resources Vic.v4l2gamma and
Vic.v4l2gain can now be used (e.g. set them in ~/.Xdefaults). It's still
not
ideal, as the max and min gamma values vary with V4L2 drivers, so you'll
need to guess what a suitable value is.

To simplify things, I'll add C++ code to vic that scales gamma and gain
based on a value between 0 and 255. If I do that, I'll readily be able
to
add gamma and gain sliders to the node configuration of the Video and
VideoProducer services.
